DVRS Constitution

  1. The club shall be called “The Darenth Valley Radio Society”.
  2. The aims and objects of the Society shall be to further the well being of all aspects of amateur radio.
  3. Application for membership shall be approved by the committee. There shall be two categories of membership – Ordinary and Junior (under 18 years of age). All members shall have equal voting rights.
  4. Annual Subscription shall be determined by the Committee and agreed by the Society at the Annual General Meeting.
    1. Annual Membership Fees are payable on the third visit and thereafter at the AGM (held on the first meeting in May).
  5. The Society's affairs shall be administered by a Committee elected at the Annual General Meeting.
    1. The Committee in whom the Society's property shall be invested shall consist of:
      1. A Chairman who shall conduct meetings and have a casting vote.
      2. A Secretary who shall take minutes at meeting and deal with general secretarial duties.
      3. A Treasurer who shall have custody of Society funds and who shall present an audited balance sheet at the Annual General Meeting.
      4. Four Ordinary members to be elected at the Annual General Meeting.
    2. The Committee shall have the power to elect its own Chairmen at the AGM. Should an Officer of the Society resign in mid-term the Committee shall have the power to elect temporary officers to serve to the next AGM.
    3. The quorum for the Committee shall be one Officer and two Committee members.
    4. The Committee shall have the power to co-op members.
  6. Annual General Meeting Notice of the AGM shall be given to the Society one month previously at a suitable Society meeting. The business of the meeting shall include the presentation of a report of the previous years activities, the election of the Committee, a report on the years income and expenditure. Voting shall be by a show of hands. 51% to be the majority.
  7. Auditors shall be appointed by the Committee.
    1. The financial year of the Society, will run from 1st April to 31st March of the following year.
  8. Extraordinary General Meeting to agree change to the constitution or officers of the Society can be called on written demand of six paid up members.
  9. In the event of a decision to wind up the Society, the assets shall be liquidated and distributed amongst the paid up members.

Darenth Valley is a small, but friendly club, that meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at the Crockenhill Village Hall starting at 8pm.
