Home building, or home-brewing, as it is often called, has a long and illustrious history in amateur radio. The earliest amateur radio station operators had no alternative, as commercial equipment did not exist. This tradition is still fully supported in modern amateur radio. Foundation licensees can build their own antennae, test equipment and audio equipment, and Intermediate and Full licence holders can build their own radio equipment, too.

Cabinet making was a very useful skill for radio amateurs, and is still preferred by some. The article gives full woodworking details for something clearly intended to pass muster as lounge furniture.
