Solar Report
It has been a very quiet week, with no solar wind or sunspots. However this may change soon. It has been announced by NASA that we are now in the new solar cycle, but do not expect great thing from it regarding good openings on the HF bands.
Next week a sunspot is expected to emerge from the other side of the sun and a solar wind is also expected on about the 22nd or 23rd of this month.
HF Report
I am still running one watt, into my 80 to 10 meter long wire. I hope running at 1W is more comparable to a station running 100W into a dipole.
7Mhz. Reports > 100km.
During the grey line period morning and evening, I have been getting reports back from VK. On Saturday during this period I did also get reports back from DP0GVN, at the research station on the edge of Antarctica. As DP0GVN signed as DP0GVN-1 as well,. I think he his trying out more than one antenna. In the late evening reports have also come back from PY stations.
14Mhz Reports > 3000km
Very quiet on this band. Tuesday was the was by far the best day on this band, with reports back from VK , FR5ZX on Reunion Island, S79RP in the Seychelles, DP0GVN and two reports from PY. During the day I have had the odd report from 9K2ET in Kuwait. Most reports however the rest of the time came from from North America and they have not started until 11:00 most days due to the daylight hours getting shorter.
21Mhz Reports > 1000km
The only reports received from stations greater than 1000km away, were on Tuesday and Saturday. Tuesday saw a report from IW2NKE and Saturday a report from EA8BFK.
28Mhz Reports > 500km.
The only day I got any reports back greater than 500km, was on Tuesday at 17:14. These reports were from F4GFX, IK1NET/1 and IW2NKE. There were some reports just under 5500km, but they were very few.
Lets hope the coming week is better.
