Solar Report

During the week, a sunspot from the new solar cycle has been seen. At the moment it is tuning towards Earth, but is unlikely to effect radio conditions.

HF Report

I am now using a long wire that has been tuned to the 40 Meter band, with a loading coil for 80 Meters at the far end and about 9 foot of antenna wire, after the loading coil for that band. As a result I am now operational on 80/40/20/15/10 Meter bands.

80 Meters. Reports Greater Than 500km.

Nearly all reports the near continent. Best DX, was reports from the Canaries between 21:00 and 23:00.

40 Meters Reports Greater Than 1000km.

Like 80 Meters most reports were from the near continent. Very few reports from North America this week. In the evening, reports have come back from FR1 Reunion Island and VK7 Tasmania. Friday did see a good number of reports from PY Brazil and Reunion Island in the late evening.Saturday the band was quet.

20 Meters Reports Greater Than 3000km.

Reports on 20 Meters have been poor, but with a surprise on Friday. The band opened to Brazil, Reunion Island and Antarctica in the evening. DP0GVN in Ekstroem Ice Shelf, Atka Bay, Dronning Maud Land Antarctica gave a report of plus 7, which in WSPR terms is one hell of a signal. Minus 12 is considered good. Look up DP0GVN on qsl.com, there are some interesting comments about operating in Antarctica.

15 Meters Reports Greater Than 1000km.

Very much like 80 Meters, nearly all reports the near continent. Best DX, was reports from the Canaries in the morning or late evening.

10 Meters. Reports Greater Than 500km.

Very quiet on this band all week. Tuesday was the day for the largest number of reports back. Best DX all week, was the Canaries.

6 Meters.

Like 10 Meters, it has been very quiet. With the air pressure being high, good things were expected to happen on this band, alas no. On some days reports only came back from local stations. The best day was Tuesday, with reports from Sweden and Norway.

Darenth Valley is a small, but friendly club, that meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at the Crockenhill Village Hall starting at 8pm.
